On the appearance on this morning’s show there were some main talking points about the summer transfer market I couldn’t indulge in during my conversation with Page, namely:
a.) Led by an unlikely star in Mark Hughes, managers have stormed center stage in this early part of the summer signing period.
b.) Keep an eye on moves like Wigan’s loan signing of Egyptian dynamo Amr Zaky, these can be expected to be an ingenuitive new way for smaller market teams to pick off talent out their range — “Can we borrow him for just one year, pretty please?” Then, it’s, “Hustle, get out, we have the loot now! Run! Ha, we got it!”
c.) Sam Eto’o is loose and Robinho is dangling for the taking, and since many seem to feel the Premiership will rightfully inherit both, let’s consider this a litmus test as to how overtly dominant the league may be or isn’t yet in the voracious Eureopean scrap.
