The Los Angeles Galacticos?

05.18.08 | Comment?

The Galaxy did it again today, lighting up the score sheet with 5 total goals and 4 in  a span of less than 15 minutes.

Supporting cast members Edson Buddle, Alan Gordon and Chris Klein are beginning to take advantage of the precision of David Beckham and the kniving runs of Landon Donavon.

The Galaxy lead Major League Soccer with 19 goals, half of last year’s total of 38.  Of course those 38 goals came in 30 games in 2007, while the 19 have come through just 8 matches.  And that’s without arguably the greatest scorer in MLS history, Carlos Ruiz, who is expected back before the end of the month.

Becks and company are on pace for 71 goals, which would be 15 more goals than any team had last season.  The MLS scoring record came in 1998 when the Galaxy scored 85 goals in 32 matches.

While Donavon, Gordon and Klein may not be Zidane, Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos, this team is starting to find their stride and a postseason appearance should be a certainty for this squad of stars.
