Incredible, watching Newcastle-Manchester United today called to my attention that Fox Soccer Channel will be airing tonight’s Hyundai A-League Grand Final. For all you West Coasters, it’s a 9 p.m. live broadcast, meaning midnight Eastern and so on and so on. If it’s raining as much in your life as it is Northern California this afternoon, you won’t have much of a Saturday night out to enjoy anyway.

I don’t want go too far into it more than I already have, but the A-League and Major League Soccer are on the front lines of upholding soccer’s self-proclaimed title as the world’s game. Though MLS is clearly out front with its momentous (Beckhamentous?) 2007 campaign, Australia in my eyes remains a formidable contender as the footballing nation with the most future potential.
