Liverpool’s tie against Aston Villa this afternoon may actually make its way onto Sportscenter this evening, even without a fancy run from Fernando Torres or stunning strike from Gabriel Agbonlahor.
Liverpool’s famous supporters section, the KOP, is in full voice tonight, berating American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett after recent talk of a proposed sale of the club and the controversy surrounding Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez.
About ten minutes in, this has turned into an all-out protest against Hicks and Gillett and their unorthodox way of running things, or should I say, unbritish way.
From my seat in here So Cal, it’s hard to tell whether Gillett and Hicks don’t have their finger on the pulse of English soccer because of their Yankee background or whether Liverpool and England fans underestimate the American’s business and management savvy.
This game, as well as this topic, will take center stage on tomorrow morning’s edition of 101Soccer Live.
