United States U-20 international Preston Zimmerman signed a professional contract with German club Hamburg SV after displaying a solid goal-scoring form for the reserve team.
The US continues to look for a first-team striker up top and it seems the team has now turned to youngster Jozy Altidore in addition to veterans Eddie Johnson and Taylor Twellman.
Zimmerman has attended a US training camp before, after being called up by US head coach Bob Bradley before the friendly in Switzerland this past October. However, Zimmerman did not receive his first cap and wasn’t even included on the game-day roster.
Zimmerman has 9 goals in 32 appearances for Hamburg SV II.
