If we could have only viewed Steven Gerrard’s reaction to THE winning goal. Seeing Steve McLaren cringe at Russia’s near go-ahead goal would have been priceless. Watching Wayne Rooney watch Israel’s thrilling 2-1 victory over Russia might have been more interesting than watching the game itself.
England’s chances for EURO 2008 qualification are now in it’s own hands. Omar Golan’s injury time goal turned Group E on it’s head, and now the Three Lions need just a draw to advance to next summer’s European Championships.
While I may be a self-proclaimed anti-fan of England’s national team, I still desperately want to see them in next summer’s championships. Every match of the 16-team tournament will be shown live on ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC, and without England, this tournament loses much of it’s sex appeal here in the states.
So, at least for another five days, God save the Queen.

I agree that it is essential to have one of the most popular teams in the world, with some outstanding big name players, at next summer’s tourney. And finally ESPN getting ‘r dun by televising some great soccer matches; can’t wait!
