FIFA President Sepp Blatter announced today that any nation from any continent would be able to bid to host the 2018 World Cup. This announcement ruffled a lot of feathers, mostly from soccer bigwigs here in North America.
With the 2002 Cup in Asia, 2006 in Europe, 2010 in Africa and 2014 in South America, leaders of CONCACAF expected that North America would be next in the rotation. Not so much. England is planning to bid for the 2018 tournament, and there’s already little doubt they’ll be the hosts.
This will be a hot topic when 101Soccer Live returns tomorrow morning at 9am.
